Digital Disruption of Composites Manufacturing and Design | Anoush Poursartip

:rocket: Global Composites Experts Webinar Series Now on YouTube!

cdmHUB is excited to announce that our Global Composites Experts Webinar Series, originally launched during the pandemic, is now publicly available on YouTube. We’re kicking things off with a thought-provoking lecture by Prof. Anoush Poursartip, titled: “Digital Disruption of Composites Manufacturing and Design”

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Abstract
Composite materials and structures exemplify how engineering practice can often outpace scientific understanding. Originating in the analog era of the 1960s, carbon fiber composites manufacturing and design have evolved into intricate systems driven largely by risk management. Over the past two decades, the rise of predictive simulations, standardized workflows, and material characterization has begun to reshape this landscape—but the transformation is only beginning. In this talk, Prof. Poursartip traces the development of process simulation and in-process control to illustrate how emerging scientific capabilities are beginning to challenge—and improve—established engineering practices. He makes the case for strategically merging two previously separate digital threads:

:small_blue_diamond: Data-driven Industry 4.0 frameworks

Drawing from his 40-year career spanning academic research and industrial application, Prof. Poursartip offers a compelling vision for how digital strategies will drive the future of the composites community—especially in the wake of global economic challenges.
